the message
These pieces are created through a form of storytelling that allows the audience to feel relatable. The three main characters in the story portray and represent the obstacles that young adults nowadays have: troubled family relationships, social media anxiety, and the feeling of ‘emptiness’ when everything seems ‘fine’.
At the beginning of the story, the characters are deeply struggling. They endure a series of internal thoughts that don’t seem to have an end. These portrayals of anxiety-loop hall are aspects of life that many of us find relatable. The characters meant to share their vulnerability and internal thoughts with the audience, to make us feel connected and understand that we are not the only one who is facing these problems.
Further, the story ended with a hook, marked by a rhetorical question that triggers the audience to think about “Who they really are?”. It then expectantly provokes the audience to feel the same way. As the audience is aware of the problem, Mudika Melbourne’s annual “Atlas” retreat provides a solution for them to have a moment of self-reflection and self-discovery.
